Leaders
are those that follow their convictions, and step forward. Often they
do so with little awareness for what they are creating from the larger
picture. They simply take action because they must. They are driven
from within to do something. A single act that has impact leaves a lasting impression upon the earth.
We
each are here in purpose. We may be aware of that purpose, know it by
name, and align with it as a guiding force. Or we may simply be taking
action because we must. Most often we do something because it feels
right; it resonates deep within our core and ignites that passion within. Life lived from here is alive, filled with vitality. It is one that feeds us, providing substance from a larger place.
As
Souls we come here to learn. We come to experience life and to grow as
part of humanity. We also come here to contribute, to offer our light
to those around us. Purpose is the meeting of the Soul's light and the
aliveness of the personality. In partnership these two aspects of us can do
much. Separate, they each have their own possibilities. But aligned
there is the opportunity for impact, the lasting impression, through
the world of form.
A personality doing it alone without
accessing the support of the Soul resorts to trial and error. It sees
the world in one way, a world of effort and learning. Much progress and
growth is possible here, as the personality learns about itself and the
world around it.
Of course the personality is never alone, in
the true sense of the word. It is always tethered to the beauty and
support of the Soul. But much like having a rain jacket and leaving it
in the car on a stormy day, a Soul not accessed is just not as
effective. Without the invitation from the personality to engage,
the Soul waits. It holds a beautiful place of love for its partner, the
personality. It offers it support as openings allow. It whispers in
times of silence or extends warmth as the heart opens to its presence.
Similarly,
a Soul can not have the same degree of impact on the world without its
partner, the personality. It still offers its light, still enjoys
connection with other Souls, but it can not influence form and matter.
It can not write a book without the personality. It cannot step forward
to offer loving guidance as a parent without an opening. Its evolution
cannot move forward without the conscious connection with the
personality.
The concept that the Soul's evolution is dependant
upon the receptive nature of the personality is profound. To recognize
that the Soul returns life after life to learn, opens the possibility
that it is not complete already. If it were, it would not need to
return! Often we project images of perfection or omnipotence to the
Soul, much like we may do to other figures of authority. When we see
something as larger than ourselves we often see it as an authority. We
then relinquish our own authority- the ability to author one's life in
a given moment. To understand that the Soul is dependant upon us a
personality, changes these impressions. To accept the Soul as a partner
rather than an authority allows us, as personalities, to step forward
into the waiting partnership we seek.
Spiritual development
is the development of the personality. To be more open and loving, to
be more conscious, to know one's truth are all part of that process.
However spiritual development is also the evolution of the Soul. As the
Soul evolves it resolves karma, it creates new opportunities for growth
and learning for itself. It may even assist in creating new constructs
of learning for other Souls. Along the way it becomes more diffuse,
able to hold more light. This light in turn supports the Soul itself in
having more impact.
As the personality touches the Soul's light,
it is transformed. Its cells become more alive. When this connection is
conscious, the personality derives much benefit. The world view of the
Soul is larger. It does not exist in the duality of right and wrong,
good and bad. The Soul has been a simultaneous participant in all of
the life experiences you, the personality, have had so far. However, it
does not have an emotional and mental body that must slow down these
experiences in order to understand them. In this way, even the most
challenging circumstances simply move as energy for the Soul. In the
early years of childhood the personality has not had such benefit.
Lasting beliefs, fears and emotional residue remain, coloring the
perspective of the world view of the personality.
The Soul's
view is one of higher understanding. It has access to the purpose of
events, the lessons of others in our lives as well as the consciousness
we have come here as Souls to learn and to offer to the world. Seeing
the larger view for a life event changes the way the personality then
views that event. Immediately the charges and attachments that have
been present slip away. In a fluid state, the personality understands
what has been offered and engages from this new perspective. The
personality then also has the opportunity for evolution, having had its
world view altered in such a way.
Over time, the personality
begins to recognize the peace that accompanies this glimpse into higher
understanding. It returns seeking this nourishment, even if words and
images are not present. In this way the Soul and personality connect
through higher mind, where the constructs of understanding are not
required.
Once a personality has had a few glimpses in this way,
it often begins to seek its life work. It may feel an overriding desire
to be of service and to understand why it is here. Although helpful to
the personality to have a framework of understanding, definition and
labels are not required for the presence of life work. A Soul extends
its consciousness and light through the vehicle of the personality in
everyday life experiences such as walking the dog or going to the post
office.
Each act taken upon this earth from a place of expansion
opens great possibilities. As human beings here in conscious connection
with our Souls, our ability to live from expansion improves. We open to
the world around us, we see the opportunities for conscious creation
and when we are ready, we extend our gifts to those we are here to serve.
