Every
choice we make is one of aligning with our thoughts and beliefs. As we
become more aware of these thoughts, both conscious and unconscious, we
open to greater capacity to consciously create what we desire. When we
learn to recognize each action as a reflection of our thoughts, we are
also supported to discover the layers of consciousness that encourage
us to move forward in partnership with our Souls.
Many of our
actions are rote, requiring little thought. Habituated routes to work,
planning activities with friends and loved ones, or even preparing a
meal may all seem so familiar that we miss the opportunity to create.
When we recognize that each action we take is one of creating, we can
begin to choose not only what we desire to create but how we would like
to create that next experience. A meal prepared from love, for
instance, holds more vitality and aliveness for all who will take in
that sustenance.
As partners with our Souls, we are always
connected to a vast expanse of love, compassion and abundance. Whether
we hear the Soul as a voice, feel its presence as warmth and comfort or
simply trust its existence in our lives, we have access to this great
well of light and support.
Bridging from action to a state of
being opens the possibility of accessing this part of ourselves
consciously. Each action performed consciously, with intention, brings
us more fully into alignment with the part of us that chooses this
partnership and, in turn, chooses ease.
The Soul recognizes the
divine flow and order of the universe as a natural state of being. This
does not mean that the Soul does not still learn and explore, but
rather that it does so simply from a place of exploration. What does
the extension of light and consciousness into a hungry abyss feel like,
for instance? How much compassion can be extended in a given moment?
The Soul is constantly refining its ability to be present in a world of
form, all the while having impact.
As a personality and steward
for the Soul, we can heed its call for peace by choosing ease. Each
Soul offers its light, as a pure tone of peace, through its presence.
When we recognize its tone, we as personalities, often slow down,
breathe more deeply and open to this peace as well. In this way, the
Soul encourages the personality to breathe, to recognize the goodness
and fullness that exists in each breath, in each moment of possibility.
In
turn, as the personality pauses in this way, it allows the goodness and
nourishment of the Soul to not only touch all the parts of it
(conscious and unconscious) but also to flow more freely out into the
world.
Imagine a world created from this peace.
Imagine your life lived from this peace.
As
the role of stewardship becomes more apparent, the personality begins
to recognize the influence it has on the ability for the Soul to be
present and have impact. Partnership is seen as a co-creative effort,
rather than a relationship where the personality has less to offer than
the Soul.
As evolving beings of light and awareness, we may
choose to enter into this partnership more fully each day, with each
action we take. To embrace this more fully allows us to recognize our
capacity, now. It does not require us to live in solitude, to be
connected to our deepest capacity only when in meditation and silence,
but rather invites us to live each moment of each day from this place
of peace. This is the doorway to enlightenment, to live life fully from
a place of joy, recognizing our greatest capacity in every action, no
matter how small it may be.
To allow this place of action in our
lives takes some practice. To shift from rote activities to consciously
inviting our largeness to step forward, signals to the universe that we
desire what is next on our individual path of growth and expansion.
When we choose to begin the process of learning about ourselves in this
way, we unlayer the gifts that await within, that can only be accessed
through presence.
Presence is developed through the capacity to
be aware. When one holds presence, they are aligned with their Soul and
moving as one being upon the earth. Presence is developed moment by
moment through choice, through alignment and action in the world from
an open- hearted state.
To practice the art of presence, choose
one activity of each day to explore. Open to the possibility that it is
something you are doing for the very first time, no matter how often
you have engaged here before. Allow the mind to recognize the place
where thoughts arise while you connect in this way. Does your body
begin to become more alive, simply as you choose to slow down a simple
act such as doing the dishes? Does your mind begin to empty from the
busyness of the day? Does peace emerge? As quickly as peace emerges,
does it retreat to the background, deterred by the reemergence of the
busyness of the mind? What is the response of the body to the presence
of such peace?
Notice your responses, and simply observe them as
one component of a recipe, one piece that adds and complements the
others of the equation. Resist the temptation to judge any aspect of
yourself that emerges, and rather recognize its willingness to step
forward and reveal itself to you. In this way you begin to learn more
fully about yourself as the layers of consciousness move to the surface.
Begin
to perform this same activity each day, each time noticing your
awareness. When you recognize a capacity to remain present and aware,
add in another activity to the day. Build one layer to the next,
recognizing the fullness that is possible here. Challenge yourself to
bring the qualities of the Soul, such as joy, love and abundance to any
activity, even those that to the mind may seem unpleasant. How much
aliveness can the personality allow into its life? How much presence
will it embrace?
Each time we move as one with our Soul we invite the presence of peace into our lives. We embrace the fullness of our light.
