As world
events turn our awareness toward peace, it becomes increasingly
important to look inward for peace as well. This time of great change
offers opportunity for transformation at the level of the personality
and also within collective humanity that has not been seen before in
our earth’s evolution. As we each find peace, as we each choose peace,
we create opportunity for peace to be present in a palpable way for all
those concerned. Choosing peace does not imply allowing others to
dominate us. It speaks to our alignment with our higher power, where
peace and balance exist as a state of being.
It is easy to get
caught in fear and rage when unpredictable events transpire. Yet it
can become easier still to use these events to foster the call for
peace. Such duality, or the presence of polar opposites, has existed as
long as man has been upon the earth. Bringing conscious awareness to
the struggle between these two polar forces is an avenue to personal
growth and, at a higher level, is crucial to human evolution.
As
we look forward to the world we would choose to create, whether that is
the microcosm of our family, our communities or our portion of the
earth, we are faced with interesting opportunities. How do we choose
peace even amongst chaos? How do we feel safe when things around us
seem unpredictable?
As part of the evolutionary cycle, human
beings have learned through discomfort. When there is pain, we seek
solutions. When there is fear, we seek comfort. If we choose to move
beyond cause and effect, we have opportunity to co-create from a more
conscious state of existence. When there is discomfort, we can choose
to look inward to find a resolution. We can choose to seek comfort from
a higher plane, whether that is our own intuition, our spirit, God or
some other aspect of higher power and wisdom. Looking within begins to
turn our awareness to what we can do, what is within our realm of
influence. It diffuses the overwhelming fear outside of us and shifts
our attention to how we want to create our lives, what reality we
choose to identify with.
As we shift our awareness in this way,
we begin to see through our own experience that there is more to us
than meets the eye. We begin to align with our higher power, even if
only for a brief moment. The more we align here, the more our ability
to return here grows. We remember that inner vision, that core of
strength that exists within us. We remember what we have forgotten.
As
we come from this inner place, we offer to the world a newer version of
who we are. We extend to others our essence, our true self. We come
from places of wisdom, rather than fear, and we align with what we know
to be true rather than what we our concernes may be. In this way we
choose peace.
But how do we choose peace when there is such
struggle present? How do we find this state of being when there is
fear and lack and pain deep within?
Peace is not a destination; it is a way of being. Peace implies balance. Balance arrives when polar
factions have had the opportunity to be explored and those involved
begin to choose where to align. Peace is a choice created through
alignment. Where we choose to put our attention or energy begins the
process of creating peace.
Imagine that you are aligned with
your Soul or some higher aspect of consciousness. Imagine the quality
of light or freedom that is present here. Your Soul, as an expression
of beauty and light, offers itself in each exchange. It offers with no
expectation of response. It continues to be present, to illuminate you
as a personality, whether or not you acknowledge its presence; whether
or not you choose to take what it extends in your direction.
As
we walk around in our lives we approach things as a personality. We
exist as a state of polarity while learning from this perspective.
Through trial and error we learn from our mistakes. Perhaps we push too
hard one day, only to retreat and withdraw another. We may learn to
open our hearts when it appears safe and begin to look to others for
love. When we are present in a balanced state, we exist as a human
being with thought and feeling and emotion. However, we also arrive at
each interaction with who we truly are, present and ready, regardless
of the response of others. Our hearts are open and emanating light,
our essence, out into the world as a beacon offering sustenance. We
guide through our actions and open doorways for others to begin their
own place of exploration. We trust that what is before us is perfect in
every aspect of awareness, as a tool to learn how to increase our light
and offer more to those we are here to serve.
Each time we take
this risk and begin to consciously look in this way to see what is
true, right now in the moment, we seek to create an opportunity to open
to others. We move into the present and release ourselves from the
past. We begin to shift our own issues and energy of separation,
creating space for others to do the same.
The key to finding
peace from within is locating the ability to move outside history and
create a new set of beliefs different from those that are currently
holding us back. Opening to the possibility of peace begins the wave of
movement that allows the old, stuck, held patterns to begin to shift.
This movement, no matter how subtle, begins the process of change. Once
the personality has had an opportunity to explore change in this way,
it begins to release its vision of how hard things need to be. It
begins to trust that things can be different and that death or serious
destruction need not occur to realize greater connection with the Soul
or higher consciousness. The personality begins to understand that the
degree of risk in change is usually minimal, even though the perceived
list of 'what ifs' and concerns could be quite dramatic.
As we,
at the level of our personalities begin to sort through these changes,
we can choose to deepen our connection. As we deepen our awareness of
who we are and how we offer that essence to the world, we begin to
touch on a well of power greater than any act of war. Connection is the
single most significant antidote to 'not peace.' It, by its very
nature, implies inclusivity, openness and unity. Connection allows for
differences and merely notices them as a way of being, not as a
statement needing to be feared or sorted through. Connection
acknowledges the unique aspect of our light, our Soul's tone or
essence, and welcomes all contributions with great joy and abandon.
We
can connect in ways that are obvious, such as prayer and meditation. We
also can connect in nature, by being our larger self in the world and
by taking a moment to pause and create the space for something new to
be present.
Each time we choose connection we are strengthening
our ability to hold peace, to live from peace and to act from peace in
each and every aspect of our lives. Connection serves to allow the
parts of us that are not yet feeling ready, that are not yet sure, to
be supported by those that are. It supports the healing of separation.
It encourages the wisdom from within to illuminate areas that are in
fear and hesitation. And, it serves to provide an opening for us to
remember who we are in the largest sense of the word and how we can
impact each and every choice we make from a place of great wisdom and
compassion.
As we go through our days, we can explore these
concepts and begin to introduce them one at a time into aspects of our
lives. Spending a few moments in silence each day, listening to that
silence and waiting for the input of higher wisdom, can bring great
solace. A kind look to others, even if you do not completely understand
or accept their views, can bring about great change. Quite simply, we
could choose to open our hearts beyond the current level of comfort,
and through that risk, affect great change.
We can choose peace
in this way with each and every thought, each and every action, and
each and every expression of our essence into the world.
We can
live our lives from this place, and in doing so effect the fabric of
change that is currently unfurling all around us. With a single thought
we can change the direction of what seems to be transpiring. We can
offer our light to the larger matrix of Soul tones and align with one
another, even if we do not know who is right next to us doing the same.
We can create great change for ourselves and all those who will come
after us, each and every moment of our lives here upon the earth.
